She took care of my daughter like she was part of her family making sure she was always looking her best under the circumstances, always treating her with dignity and love.
My 43-year old daughter was a patient in ICU after she suffered a devastating brain injury. She was declared dead and her body was kept alive until her organs could be donated. Brenda Ngo was my daughter's nurse on the day shift and we could not have been more blessed. She worked diligently to care for my daughter both before and after her death. She took care of my daughter like she was part of her family making sure she was always looking her best under the circumstances, always treating her with dignity and love. Brenda worked quietly behind the sorrow in the room, making sure my daughter and my family had everything we needed. She was always supportive, patient, and so kind to us.

An example of Brenda’s care happened after my daughter passed and her face became extremely swollen after her sodium levels went up. Her face became so swollen that she was unrecognizable. I became very upset because it was so hard to see her that way. Brenda immediately began applying ice packs to her face and did so for hours until the swelling was gone and the sodium levels normalized. She did this throughout our stay. It meant so much to me that Brenda would do her best to keep the swelling down, knowing how much it upset me.

On the morning my daughter took the walk of honor, I looked up and there was Brenda! She had come on her day off to share this touching experience with us. I will never forget that! My daughter was a nurse and a manager at another Ascension hospital in Austin and I know in my heart that she would love Brenda and be so proud of the wonderful job she did. God put Brenda in ICU to help my daughter and my family during this terrible time to care for us and give us comfort and support. We hold Brenda in a special place in our hearts, and we will always remember the things she did for my daughter and for us!
