Brenda inconvenienced herself by charting in the room so as to remain with our mother who was feeling anxious while alone.
Brenda was beyond extraordinary in the care and kindness she bestowed upon our mother and us as a family. My mother was extremely restless, suffering in respiratory distress and in excruciating pain from a hip fracture. It was a difficult balance to keep her comfortable and not depress her breathing. Brenda went out of her way to advocate to the doctors to order IV Tylenol to keep her comfortable and safe.
Not only did she do that, she thought "Out of the Nurses Box" and provided an air blower for comfort, positioning items, a specialty bed to prevent continued breakdown of her skin, and nursing care above and beyond even the most attentive of nurses. Brenda took the time to explain her care and provide emotional support to us, the family. She did all that and more in her eight-hour shift and still managed to take excellent care of another patient.

I am a nurse, and I can honestly say she is absolutely one of the best nurses I witnessed in action. Commonwealth Health is fortunate to have her on staff and we are so grateful she was there. She made the most difficult of days during our mother's illness better by being the wonderful nurse she is. Her kindness and exceptional care will never be forgotten.
