Brenda represents what a true OB Nurse should be. She is a leader in the department and has trained many new staff throughout her years at MMC-Rice Lake. She is always willing to answer questions and help her co-workers. Providers also seek Brenda out when they have a question about Cerner, policies, or procedures. The main reason I believe Brenda is so worthy of this award is her care with critical newborns.

Brenda has been instrumental in saving the lives of countless new babies. She is skilled and knowledgeable, taking the lead and helping other staff by remaining calm and giving direction as needed. Providers know that Brenda can be depended on to provide the needed care during crisis situations.

One recent situation was the delivery of pre-term twins on a night that the weather was so bad that transfer crews from all surrounding hospitals with NICUs were unable to travel. Brenda finished her twelve-hour shift and then stayed for the next eight and a half hours to make sure these babies were stable enough to survive until the transfer teams could get here the following morning. Brenda is an outstanding nurse, a trusted leader, and calm in many storms.
