We honestly felt like family to her, even though we were complete strangers. We need more people and nurses like Brenda.
I had my son on 02/15/2023, after laboring for 36 hours with an unsuccessful VBAC. I had to have a repeat cesarean section, and the healing was definitely a little more difficult. I also had to have my epidural placed 5 different times during labor, and was very very sore. I was assigned Brenda on my fourth day in the hospital. So by the time I met her, I had come across over a dozen different faces as a part of my care team. However, Brenda stood out immediately to me. Brenda brought an instant warmth and sense of comfort from the moment she entered our room. She went above and beyond for any and everything myself, my newborn son, or family needed. She was very attentive to my needs and made sure I was kept comfortable, my pain was managed well with her, and I didn't go without any needs unaddressed. I even asked if she was on shift the following day, which she said she was, and requested she be my nurse the following day as well. This was my third baby and I have always struggled with milk production. Brenda was very reassuring and never once made me feel guilty or inadequate for having to supplement with formula. In fact she made sure we left the hospital with a few days worth of formula and a few packs of Preemie diapers (especially since they are almost impossible to find in stores). Brenda is a true asset to the hospital, because you can just feel that her heart is in everything she does, and this isn't just a job to her. She takes her role to heart, and provides exceptional care and comfort to her patients. We honestly felt like family to her, even though we were complete strangers. We need more people and nurses like Brenda.
