I brought my husband's 78-year-old aunt for a procedure. This woman is shy and has a serious avoidant personality; she has never left her birth home, married, had children or a job. She has refused to see all physicians be it dentist, an optometrist, etc. She lived with her parents until each one passed away. My husband and I assumed her care when there was no other family member left to physically care for her. With medical intervention, we have come a very long way over the past two years, but that is a story for another day.
Brenda Valery Bern and her team were extraordinarily kind. They took extra time with my aunt to draw blood as painlessly as possible and this was a challenge. Then when it was thought that my aunt had a dermatologic issue, Brenda did her best to find a resident to look at her skin. Most of us were convinced she did not have a skin disease, but obviously, prior to surgery, we had to make sure.
No resident was readily available, and although the clock was ticking, Brenda kept her cool. There was also an issue as to whether my aunt could accurately confirm if she had taken or omitted various meds that morning. Brenda painstakingly listened to my aunt and took time to confirm facets of the conversation with the local pharmacist. She answered all questions with respect and dignity.
If it were up to me I would plant a garden of daisies for everyone who encountered my aunt. We appreciate, respect, and extend our thanks to all who encountered my aunt. There is so much more to say, but, I want to recommend Brenda Valery Bern for a DAISY. She did her utmost with an anxiety-prone, scared and challenging patient.
