We found such comfort in knowing Brenna took such empathetic care of Mom. Mom, herself, many times throughout her two-week hospitalization, told us what a wonderful, caring nurse Brenna was.
Brenna provided care to my mother-in-law for two weeks in November on the CHF floor. Early in Mom‘s admission, Brenna provided great nursing care. She was attentive to Mom‘s medical and emotional needs and facilitated interactions and access to various specialists. Brenna was a spokesperson for her patient. She was with us through the toughest two weeks for Mom and us. Brenna went out of her way to provide compassionate care to her patients. She listens and hears what they are saying. She communicates what is best for her patients with their care providers and is a true advocate for her patients. Brenna not only cares for her patient, but she provides support, empathy, compassion, and knowledge to their families as well. Brenna knew what was best for mom and helped guide us through the decline in mom‘s health. As her health declined, Brenna contacted the hospice team on our behalf to help Mom‘s transition from discovery to comfort. Brenna was at our side to support us and Mom and keep Mom comfortable to take her last breath. She promised to take care of Mom until the funeral Director picked her up. Saying goodbye is never easy, but Brenna has made this process less painful. We found such comfort in knowing Brenna took such empathetic care of Mom. Mom, herself, many times throughout her two-week hospitalization, told us what a wonderful, caring nurse Brenna was. As a lifelong nurse myself, there is no nurse more deserving of the DAISY Award than Brenna Burke.
