Attentive - the first to offer to itch a nose or get a warm blanket. Making sure the patient is comfortable is her priority.
Brenna has been a member of the OR crew for the past ten years. In that time she has proven herself invaluable in her daily dealings with her peers, other departments and most importantly the patients and their families. In the past, Brenna has been the lead RN in Pre-Admission, working with our Total Joint patients. She helped establish the current program, developing the curriculum, leading the Total Joint Class, working with the primary care providers, coordinating care with other departments and just making the process smoother for the patient and their families in general. Currently, Brenna is orienting new staff to the department and precepting a student nurse.
With her sweet spirit and kind words, Brenna is a favorite with patients in Preop, when getting them ready for surgery. Her quiet, calm nature has a soothing effect on them, putting them at ease. Brenna takes every opportunity possible to teach her patients, explaining things in an easy to understand, but professional manner.
After surgery, in the Recovery Room, Brenna is always prepared for patients returning from the OR. She uses critical thinking skills to provide the best care possible for her patients. She works closely with the surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure the patients are safe and well cared for.
Brenna lives TRMC Mission by "providing physical, mental and spiritual healing". She loves people and it shows. It is rare, if ever, that Brenna shows frustrations, or that she might be having a bad day. She is always cheerful, positive and encouraging. Brenna has cared for several of my family members, and I felt totally at ease, knowing that they were being cared for by a competent and compassionate nurse.
