First and foremost, I want to commend the entire unit of nurses, aides, assistants, nursing students, and others with whom I came into contact on 6EW. I easily could have nominated more than one. However, beyond her demeanor, humor, and dedication to her profession, Bri did the one important thing that set her apart from the others: she walked with me! We took a 10-minute walk on Saturday and another 10-minute walk on Sunday. We did not discuss blood sugar, blood pressure, or any sort of hospital lingo. Our dialogue consisted of warm weather, dining, music, and vacations. Unfortunately, that changed when we got back to my room; professionalism took over. That special little bond lifted my spirits and was something I will always remember with a smile! I am just an average guy who has been blessed by family and friends, plus a nurse.
