Brian's empathy is palpable in his care and in sharing his own struggles with others. He has blossomed as a student, and I am excited about the care he is going to provide as a nurse. On several occasions, Brian has offered to help patients in crisis, possibly putting his own safety at risk. His approach to patient care goes beyond tasks; he sees the person behind the illness and honors their story. He has consistently received praise for his compassionate care. Brian also made a huge difference in a patient's life when he was able to identify a patient who was about to have a very serious life-threatening event. He completed the proper assessment and reported his findings immediately. This saved the patient's life. His exceptional care and compassion, ability to go above and beyond his duties, connection with patients, and the positive feedback he has received make him a candidate for the DAISY Award. He embodies the spirit and future of nursing, and I recommend him for this honor.
