On Wednesday night, our family member was transported by ambulance to the ER with a diagnosed heart attack. Brian was the night supervisor that evening and he was awesome. He met us in the ER as our family member was being prepped to go for his cardiac procedure. He assisted with the necessary paperwork with the patient's wife. He was patient and very professional as we were all very shaken by this event. Brian walked with us to the Cath Lab and helped to explain the procedure that was to take place. He made sure that we were comfortable in the waiting area. He came back as the procedure was complete and walked with us to the ICU waiting area, where he got us water and visited with us for a short period.
Brian was a very thoughtful and compassionate person during this time. He was very professional and was a model for the Providence mission.

This nomination that Brian received is only a very small piece of the work that he does each day. He sets countless examples of leading by our Ascension Mission. He is complimented frequently on the help that he gives to staff and patients. Brian has been described as kind, compassionate, patient, and helpful. When rounding on the units, Brian is known to step in and help answer call lights, speak to patients, go get equipment and supplies for staff without them asking. He just knows when they need help. He has been described as the "one of the best" house supervisors. Brian helps EVS clean rooms, retrieve beds for the ER for patients that are down there longer than expected so that they can be comfortable. Leadership depends on Brian when he's here and we trust his judgment. Many times we default to asking him what he thinks is best. He's known to help transport patients from ER to the floors. Brian always puts his team and our patients first when he is on shift. We all know Brian does a lot more than what has been listed. This is why Brian is a DAISY Nurse.
