Brian told me that he was doing everything in his power to prevent people from dying alone.
I am writing to tell you what a godsend it was for us to know that in the last two evenings of my father's life, Brian was assigned as his nurse. Prior to Thursday night, we were having a difficult time getting in touch with our beloved father. We understand that with COVID, everything is different. The first call we made, however, with Brian as his nurse was amazing. He took the phone directly into Dad's room and let us talk to him as long as we wanted. He invited us to have all of the grandkids call and told us that he would be happy to help with the calls.
There are no words to describe how wonderful Brian is. His patience, kindness, and compassion helped calm us at a very difficult time. In our discussions with Brian, we learned that he had spent lots of time speaking with Dad on Thursday night when Dad was coherent. He cared enough to take the time to learn things about my father. Brian told me that he was doing everything in his power to prevent people from dying alone. I hope Bethesda East knows what a treasure it is to have a nurse like Brian. I thank my lucky stars that there are people in this world like Brian and that my dad was fortunate enough to spend his last day in his care.
