Brian’s excellence in working with patients, their families, and hospital GIP staff is beyond words. During the pandemic, a covid patient with metastatic pancreatic cancer was admitted to our service. It is during inpatient Hospice admission when patients have uncontrolled, unmet needs with multiple spiritual and psychosocial distresses. This patient was in severe pain, her pain was physical, spiritual, and psychosocial since she was a police officer, living alone in Maryland. Brian was very attentive to her pain and details, handled the situation so well, she died peacefully, and taught us so much that we can never forget. This was only one of the many incidences that showed Brian as an exceptional and caring nurse.
