My daughter was admitted to Albany Medical Center for an NG tube and to begin treatment for ARFID. Brian was our daughter’s nurse for 3 days of her stay. He made her feel like she could accomplish difficult things by always cheering her on, frequently checking in on her, and talking with her about what she enjoys doing outside the hospital. Even though ARFID is not very well known, Brian made sure to educate himself in the short time he got to know our daughter, setting small eating goals for her, giving major praise for every little thing she was able to eat and drink, and not expecting her to eat things she doesn’t like or large volumes of food. He also did everything he could to make her transition to a feeding tube as comfortable as possible. He was extremely kind, caring, and compassionate, and made our daughter’s hospital stay so much more tolerable.
