I was pregnant in my third trimester and needed to have orthopedic surgery on my ankle. Briana was assigned from labor and delivery to monitor my baby pre- and post-operatively.

In the PACU, I was having a very difficult time with pain control, and my baby was not reactive on her NST. Briana literally sat with her hand on the fetal monitor on my abdomen for over two hours, trying to ensure we got the best possible tracings for the baby and did not miss any major red flags of fetal distress.

Briana advocated for me to be admitted to manage my pain. She continued to advocate for me after I was up on the unit for the remainder of her shift. I ended up requiring a two-night stay due to pain issues. Briana was assigned back to me on the third day. She was the most compassionate nurse I could have asked for. She did this all despite it being outside of her normal labor and delivery role.

I was on the OB unit for fetal monitoring, but a postoperative leg pain is definitely not a typical OB case. She did not let that affect her compassion or dedication to me. She was an amazing advocate, and I was blessed to have her assigned to me.
