I was working as the House Supervisor and I heard Code Blue. I urgently attended and came in to find Briann holding this patient in her arms. After initiating the Code Blue response, the patient was determined DNR, the wife was present at the bedside. We walked her to the side of the patient and Briann was present with both of them during the last few minutes of his life. She was there for them unlike any other nurse I had seen. She stayed hours after her shift with this patient’s wife, grieved with her, walked with her, and also offered to follow her home to make sure she got home safely. The wife didn't have anyone to call and was insistent on driving home. Briann's dedication to service and to our patients is just beyond amazing. This is just one of the many times I have seen Briann go above and beyond for our patients and community.
