My 97-year-old father came into your emergency department. He was covered in vomit and feces. Briana came in and took right over with such empathy and compassion. We were so embarrassed of this situation, and she calmed us and put us at ease. She treated my father with respect and dignity, and she never complained or appeared frustrated with the continuing situation. Her assessment skills were admirable; after cleaning him up, she made sure he was comfortable and warm, giving him heated blankets and especially wrapping his cold feet. It was as if she was taking care of her own grandfather. She explained all the procedures, the dynamics of the continued assessments and gave frequent updates despite the obvious busy environment. (People were on carts in the hallway). This amazing nurse so deserves recognition for excellence. I hope she receives this DAISY Award. She is so deserving.
