We had a patient who was homeless and had lengthy psycho-social issues that made plans for safely discharging her a significant challenge. Brianna spent several hours on Sunday making phone calls to everyone she could think of to help find temporary shelter for this patient. Brianna not only contacted every available resource in our system, but she also took it upon herself to contact any and every possible community resource - shelters, motels, rescue/respite facilities, and potential family members or friends that could offer something to this patient. This was not as easy as it sounds, as the patient was very guarded and even challenging at times. Still, Brianna handled the patient and circumstance with amazing grace, unwavering compassion, and resolute empathy for her patient. Her apparent concern for the patient's humanity was evident to me through her actions. Her kindhearted efforts and benevolence should be an example to all, and serves as perfect evidence of our WakeWay, every day!
