On Saturday evening, Brianna floated to 2B, as the second nurse they needed. They already had one of our nurses taking care of the nursery, and so they asked Brianna to do floor vitals and help. Once she was done with that they told her they didn't really need her to do anything. In the meantime, she was in the nursery, and overheard a conversation about a patient who was on 3 West, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and somehow survived. She was trached, alert and asking to see her baby. The 2B nurse responded that no one was available to take the baby to her, but Brianna offered to take the baby up. She spent about 2 hours up there with the baby and mom, even helping the mom put the baby to breast. I thought it was worth sharing with you, as I though it really embodies what this time of year is all about and what we as a unit are all about.
