I have been a nurse for over 27 years and have had the privilege to see many new nurses start out their nursing careers. They are all very special but every once in while someone comes along who is exceptional and you know will blaze a trail of extraordinary things in their nursing career and I know without a doubt Miss Way will do just that. Her nursing practice is already rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as she commits each day to serving her patients giving special attention to the vulnerable just as our Mission says.

In the attached, you will see just one of the examples of her service in the cards Brianna makes for her patients. It is just one of the many ways this wonderful sweet soul touches the lives of her patient and their families. This patient was a developmentally delayed 65-year-old with the cognitive level of maybe a 10-year-old. He was very nervous about what people would think about his toes being amputated. Bri created a superman character and wrote the sweetest words of encouragement that this patient could relate to perfectly. She took the time to put color details in this precious thoughtful card and he loved it. He was so proud of his card. He did not have any family. He lived in a group home. I walked into the room to help him with something and it was the first thing he showed me. It brought me to tears because it meant so much to him.

She does this with so many of her patients. I see them on bedside tables on many occasions. She makes each card unique and personal to the patient. She approaches each patient with compassion and understanding. Again, it is my honor to nominate Miss Way and I hope you consider this exceptional nurse for this honor.
