Bridget and Emily coordinated with the patient's daughter and his medical team to be able to have a picnic lunch outside in the garden on a spring day.
Emily and Bridget work as a pair to provide care to LVAD patients in Eastern North Carolina. They always provide exemplary care, but one example, I believe warrants recognition. Bridget and Emily had a patient who was hospitalized after getting an LVAD implanted. His postoperative course was not as expected and unfortunately had a few complications that required him to stay admitted to the hospital longer than expected. The patient was missing his family (his granddaughter especially!) but was not able to see them due to the visitor restrictions during the COVID pandemic. Bridget and Emily coordinated with the patient's daughter and his medical team to be able to have a picnic lunch outside in the garden on a spring day. The patient was able to see his granddaughter and enjoy the fresh air after being in the hospital for 25 days. This was not possible to do without the coordination of Emily and Bridget. They went above and beyond caring for medical needs, and that is what I believe the DAISY Award is all about.
