“My daughter and I are writing to nominate Bridgette Sheppard for recognition of Outstanding Patient Care with the DAISY Award. My daughter experienced a lengthy stay at Cardinal Glennon to address malnutrition in association with an eating disorder. Our acceptance of the situation could not have been completed without the attentive and compassionate care of Bridgette. Bridgette had a way of nudging my daughter along without accusation, fault or blame. She inspired a “you can” and “you will” attitude. For our daughter, Bridgette quickly established expectations and “the rules”. She enforced them firmly, respectfully, and neutrally. When Bridgette sensed my daughter was on the verge of falling apart, she would take the time to visit with her, play a game or just sit next to her. Bridgette never failed to check on our child repeatedly throughout her shift.

The stay at Cardinal Glennon turned our lives upside down. We are so thankful that Bridgette was here to help us all land right side up again! My daughter is especially grateful to the nurse that made her “eat everything” and “stop moving”. Through humor, support and friendship Bridgette gracefully helped our daughter get back to being herself. Thank you, Bridgette Sheppard!”
