Through integrity, compassion, professionalism, and dedication, Brie exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional nurse leader.
I am honored to nominate Brie Trefrey, MSN, RN, for this recognition in nursing leadership. Brie is a dedicated, compassionate leader who consistently empowers staff, maintains a strong and visible presence, promotes excellence in patient care, and serves as an outstanding role model for the entire healthcare team.
One of Brie's greatest strengths is the ability to empower others. She actively encourages nurses to develop their skills, share ideas, and grow professionally. Through open communication and genuine support, Brie creates an environment where staff feel valued, confident, and motivated to provide the best care possible.
Brie is also a highly visible leader who remains actively engaged with staff and patients. Whether rounding on our unit, offering guidance during challenging situations, such as adjusting an entire practice to work remotely during the peak of COVID, when this workflow has never been done here before. Also, during two major construction projects or while celebrating team successes, Brie consistently demonstrates approachability and commitment to being present. This visibility fosters trust, collaboration, and a strong sense of teamwork.
A true hallmark of Brie's leadership is a passion for excellence. She continuously promotes high standards in patient care, safety, and professional practice. By encouraging evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing education, Brie inspires the team to strive for the highest level of clinical excellence. Above all, Brie serves as a remarkable role model. Through integrity, compassion, professionalism, and dedication, Brie exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional nurse leader. Staff consistently look to her for guidance, inspiration, and support.
For these reasons, I wholeheartedly recommend Brie Trefrey for this recognition. Her leadership has made a meaningful and lasting impact on both the nursing team and the patients we serve.

My manager, Brie, truly deserves a Daisy Nurse Leader Award. She started in our office a patient coordinator worked her way up (medical assistant, LPN, and RN) to nurse manager, which gives her a deep understanding of every role in the practice. Because of this, she is an incredible resource for everyone in the office and can jump in anywhere when needed.
She does an amazing job empowering staff and making us feel like our voices matter. She regularly asks for our opinions when changes are being considered and works with us to turn our ideas into real improvements in both workflow and patient care. She strongly believes that nurses and support staff are the heart of the operation and consistently advocates for team based, patient centered care models that support both staff and patients.
Brie also pushes us to strive for more, often through education and professional growth. For example, she encouraged me to attend open houses for the MGH IHP nurse practitioner program and even arranged for someone to cover my clinic assignment so I could attend. This made me feel seen and supported in my goals!
She is always present in the unit and truly accessible. She will stop in her tracks to answer anyone's question or help problem-solve. She leads by example and creates a culture of respect, teamwork, and accountability. One message she often shares is to "be the coworker you want to ork with" which really reflects the environment she has built.
She is truly one of the best managers I have had, and I often hear this echoed by my fellow nurses. She makes working here a pleasure and inspires us to do our best work every day!

Brie is an amazing leader. She is always present, checking in with staff. If there is a concern or question, she is known for being responsive and supportive. She has helped create a safe work environment where staff feel heard. I have never felt uncomfortable going to her with questions. She provides transparency in areas staff can be involved allowing everyone to feel a part of the team. She cares about her staff and is supportive of them outside of the office- always making sure we're doing OK and providing resources and support if needed in this area. She also provides exceptional patient care and is a resource to turn to in this area. MGH dermatology would not be what it is without Brie!
