Brigitte was also aware of the patient's likes and dislikes, making sure he had the NASCAR race on Sundays.
Brigitte made my husband's time in the hospital memorable. My husband passed away while in her care. Brigitte made his last time as good as it could be with no visitors due to COVID-19. My husband was admitted to the ICU and we were not able to visit him. Brigitte made sure we were able to talk to him and called us during his last moments of life. She called us and held his hand during his final moments. Brigitte brought a positive vibe to my husband's days and kept him in good spirits. He looked forward to her coming in for her shifts. I could not have asked for a better nurse for him in this difficult time. She also called me hours later to check on me and my family. She went above and beyond to provide great care and support for us all.

I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for her. She is by far much more than a nurse in my eyes. She went above and beyond her line of duty. Brigitte is one of the few nurses I have met that does not just come to work to do her job; she comes to work to make a difference in her patients' lives. On top of all her knowledge, she takes extra time to make not only the patient's stay is memorable, but also the family's. Not everyone would go out of their way to make sure the patient got the daily newspaper along with unlimited popsicles! She was also aware of the patient's likes and dislikes, making sure he had the NASCAR race on Sundays.

Knowing what jokes to make to put a smile on my husband's face in his last days is something I will cherish forever - not many people are like that these days! The comfort my family had knowing she was on duty made this tragic event less stressful. She always made time to call with updates that were explained in great detail. No matter how dumb the question or how many we had, she was always happy to talk and explain things - sometimes more than once to make sure everything was understood, even when her shift was over.

Along with all her other work and patients, she still managed to facetime us so we were able to talk and see each other since visitation was cut off due to COVID. I could not have asked for a better nurse for him, to be with when he took his last breath. She was so compassionate and quick to think. She called the family when she realized he was not going to make it home and wouldn't have but minutes left. She placed the phone to his ear and held his hand the entire time. Later that afternoon, she also called to see how the family was dealing with the grieving. Brigitte will forever hold a place in our hearts. If it wasn't for her, I strongly believe our grieving process would be a lot more difficult.
