Britany is an extraordinary nurse who provides her patients with the highest quality of care. She is kind, compassionate, and caring. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed Britany be the angel by the bedside for her patients and their families. In MST ICU, we often deal with critical, high-stress, and emotional situations. Britany is always there for her patients not only to provide medical care but to support them through the stressful times. She has a unique way of connecting with people and creating a trusting, caring relationship. The patients love her upbeat attitude and caring personality; she can make anyone smile.
A few weeks ago, a patient told me that Britany was a ray of sunshine in her day. The patient was critically ill with poor prognosis and during rounds, she shared with me that when Britany was in the room with her, she would forget how sick she was. Britany made her laugh and engaged her in a conversation about her life outside of the hospital. Britany treats our patients with the utmost respect and advocates for their care.
This week Britany had a patient with complicated family dynamics and a terminal prognosis. She was so caring and personable to this patient. When we transferred her out the patient had tears in her eyes. The patient told Britany as we were walking out of the room, "I can't believe that I grew to love you in such a short period of time". There were tears and hugs involved. Since then Britany has been visiting the patient and offering her encouragement. Britany is such an extraordinary person that touches the lives of everyone she meets! It is a privilege to watch her care for patients and make a difference. Britany is a true DAISY Nurse.
