From the moment she opened my door and took charge of the situation she immediately made me feel safe and relaxed.
I was 24 weeks pregnant with my first ever set of twins when I had to rush to MCH at 5 a.m. due to having contractions after just having a laser ablation surgery for Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome in Houston just a week prior. My husband and I are from Andrews, Texas and we were having to immediately rush to Odessa to get to the hospital to deliver our identical twin girls. However, I ended up delivering our first twin in the front seat of my husband's pickup just a few minutes before arriving at the hospital. Of course, this intensified the entire situation. I was in intense pain, shock and stress. That was until I saw Britni Snell. From the moment she opened my door and took charge of the situation she immediately made me feel safe and relaxed. Of course, I was still very nervous having one baby already in my sweatpants crying and the second baby coming not far behind, all while still in the pickup, but from the moment I met Britni I knew it was all going to be okay. She got my baby with the NICU team immediately and never stopped communicating with me through the whole situation. Even while I was screaming from pain and constantly asking for my husband she reassured me at every point that we were going to make it up to the OR and my second baby was going to be delivered safely. My second baby came upon arriving in the OR & although my water ruptured all over Britni she still didn’t hesitate to receive my baby and immediately get her the appropriate care. I was more impressed by the fact that once everything was all over Britni still made a point to come not once but 3 times to my room to check on not only me but my husband and babies as well, even when she was no longer my nurse. For that alone I have an enormous amount of respect for her. I will forever be grateful for having not just an astonishingly talented nurse but an amazing person to be my nurse on the most beautifully chaotic morning of my life thus far. I am forever thankful to Britni and the amazing staff at MCH.
