I am the birth sister (doula) of a patient who had a very traumatic birth experience. Having planned to have a spontaneous vaginal delivery at a birthing center, to having a 4-day long medicated birth, leading to a cesarean birth. With all the recent news and growing statistics of black women, her fears were very valid around what the new birth experience would look like. Britni showed professional, caring, transparent, educated, and loving care toward my client for the duration of their shift. Always showing patience with the dad’s questions, comments, and concerns. Also allowing me space to support my client. It’s nurses like them who keep black/brown women alive and trusting the healthcare industry.
