but I had to make that tough decision guided by those precious words that Brittaney cared enough to make sure were relayed to me.
My brother was in the hospital mainly at IMC for a month. My brother started going downhill during his hospitalization. My brother ended up passing away. I got the call about 1:30 AM that he had taken a turn for the worse. When I got to the hospital and saw his condition some decisions had to be made by me as his POA. I want to recognize Brittaney Bertermann because she cared enough about my brother and myself to make sure that my brother’s last wish during a moment of clarity was related to me in his exact words. Without this peace of mind of these words being relayed to me I wouldn’t have been able to make the decision I made that night and delayed the inevitable and my brother would have suffered more. I am grateful that she cared enough to make sure that I knew his last wishes. No sister should have to make the decision to end life support, but I had to make that tough decision guided by those precious words that Brittaney cared enough to make sure were relayed to me. This is in my humble opinion that makes her a great nurse, that she listened to her patient and to a family member that she interacted with during his hospitalization. Thank you for this.
