Brittani connected with the ordering provider, received an order for one-time-to-go medication, and personally delivered it to the patient’s residence upon the end of her shift.
Brittani was functioning as the Clinical Administrator when she received a phone call from a patient’s family member about their discharge prescriptions going to a mail order pharmacy and they were unable to get them that evening. One of the medications was Eliquis, a blood thinner. This patient was a postop, orthopedic patient and high risk for developing postop thrombus due to a previous history. All pharmacies in a 1½ hour radius were closed at the time and there were severe weather warnings in place, making it impossible for the family to return to pick up a one-time to go dose. Brittani connected with the ordering provider, received an order for one-time-to-go medication, and personally delivered it to the patient’s residence upon the end of her shift.
