A patient's wife recognized Brittany for the exceptional care and patience provided to her and her husband as they faced a new newly diagnoses of Type 2 Diabetes.
"Brittany really opened my eyes up to how hard nurses work," her nominator said, "putting in 12 hour days and she was always pleasant."
After arriving in the Emergency Department with his sugar over 1000, the patient was transferred to the ICU where Brittany took over his care. Brittany would take the patient for walks around the unit to help build his strength and offered to bathe him and change his bedding, as well as provided education on diet, blood sugar, and insulin shots. The patient and his wife left the hospital feeling comfortable in what they were undertaking. When they had a problem with one of their prescriptions when they got home, they called Brittany and she immediately straightened it out with the doctor.
"This is a nurse that takes her job very seriously and is putting the patient's health and feelings first."
