Have you ever had to depend on someone to keep your child alive? I have and she was WONDERFUL. My son was in a bad car accident recently. After immediate testing, he was admitted to the ICU. As a mother, I was scared, nervous, frightened, and full of questions. Brittany changed that. From the moment she made contact with my son, I knew he was in good hands. My son was one of two patients she had for the night, but you couldn’t tell. She was in EVERY 15 minutes. Ensuring he was okay. Ensuring all meds were working appropriately. Ensuring I was okay and explaining everything thoroughly. She didn’t miss a beat. Brittany skipped her lunch that night and ended up giving it to me at the end of her shift to make sure I ate something. She worked so diligently to ensure we were taken care of. She wasn’t thinking of taking care of herself. I was so disappointed when her shift ended that night. She heard my son was extubated the next day. Brittany came in ON HER DAY OFF, just for a second, just to see how he was doing, just to give us a hug, just to say she was thinking of J. And that my friends, is why Brittany deserves this award. Brittany, I will forever be thankful for your generosity, your kindness, and devotion to me and my family. We need more people like you. We need more nurses like you.
