I was crying a little bit because it was so hard to see my little baby on such a big bed getting looked at. Brittany was so caring and understanding.
I had to take my newborn to the Aspirus Riverview ER in the early morning of Thursday because he was showing signs of RSV (his two older siblings had tested positive for RSV the week prior so we were worried when our newborn was breathing differently). When we got to the ER we were greeted and taken back. We were seen by (I think), a medic and two nurses.
One of the nurses was very pregnant and she kept saying how beautiful my son was and that it was going to be all right. I was crying a little bit because it was so hard to see my little baby on such a big bed getting looked at. Brittany was so caring and understanding. After the Doctor checked on my son and had received the results he was positive for RSV, Brittany came in and talked with me before our discharge. She was the kind of nurse everyone hopes they have to care for loved ones! She reassured me that my son was ok and told me exactly what to look for (in case I would have to bring my son back to the ER).
She sat with me and just listened to me. I was only five weeks postpartum and so of course my emotions were all over the place. I appreciated how she sat with me and just talked with me. At that moment I needed to hear it was good to trust my "Mama instinct" and that nursing my baby would help a lot. She made me feel seen and not that I was just a new mom worrying too much about my newborn. When asked when she was due she said this Saturday. I have been praying that she had a healthy delivery and just wanting to recognize her because she gave me so much comfort that early morning. I just want to thank Brittany because even as pregnant as she was, she gave the absolute best care to my son, and for that, I will be forever grateful for her. Thank you!
