Brittany Dodson, RN

Brittany stands above other nurses that I have worked with. She is knowledgeable and eager to help. She consistently goes above and beyond norms and expectations. For example, I have a four-week-old ileostomy which is very difficult to work on. It is receded several millimeters oval not round and has a defect located at 3:00. The experienced SWAT team nurses have difficulty with this ostomy. Brittany did not hesitate to assist exhibiting both an eagerness to expand her knowledge and expertise as well as a genuine desire to help her patient.

Another example of many was her willingness to participate in an ethics meeting for her patient with a desire to provide the group with the most accurate information regarding her patient based on her keen observations and firsthand knowledge while caring for her patient most of the week. But what most sets her apart from her colleagues is the compassion she manifests the feeling that she cares about my welfare and wants me to recover. When I awake in the morning and see her enter my room my spirits are lifted and I feel a sense of safety and hope regardless of any setbacks or difficulties I may be dealing with, and this truly contributes to my healing and well-being.
