The patient had been admitted for several days and was struggling with significant hearing loss, which made communication very difficult and isolating. When her husband came to visit, who was also hard of hearing, he shared that they had lost her charger and did not have batteries for her hearing aids, making it even harder for them to communicate for the past few days.

Despite having a busy shift, Brittany stepped in and recognized how much this was affecting her patient. She went out of her way to order hearing aid batteries from Publix so the patient could have a better experience. She then set up the hearing aids, and the moment the patient put them on, you could immediately see the relief and happiness on her face. She was finally able to connect with her husband during his visit and communicate with staff again.

Brittany is not only brilliant, but she has something you can’t teach: a genuine ability to care. Her compassion and empathy shine through in everything she does. She didn’t just solve a problem; she made a meaningful difference, transforming the patient’s hospital experience with comfort, dignity, and trust.
