I have been dealing with chronic hives for the last six months and have been to the ER twice. The last time I was at the ER, Nurse Brittany tended to my every need to SAVE my life. I was already having a reaction when I came into the ER due to my hives, which caused the swelling of my whole body. My eyes were completely swollen shut, and my lips were four times their regular size. Nurse Brittany made the decision to administer an epi-pen immediately, as my throat was starting to close. Then, every 15 to 20 minutes, as I was coming in and out of consciousness, she was by my side the whole time, making sure I was getting the right fluids and that my levels were monitored. My mother was with me through the whole 7 hours that I was there and was definitely shaken up seeing me this way. Nurse Brittany reassured my mother that she was going to do EVERYTHING to help me. Nurse Brittany was kind, compassionate, and understanding of the stressful case that was thrown at her, which she handled with grace. I have never had a nurse quite like her, but we need more people like her in our healthcare systems. I wish I could express how grateful I am for her and her compassion and kindheartedness.
