August 2026 Honoree
Brittany Harmon, BSN, RN
Our 61-year-old son was hospitalized in the ICU for several weeks for complications of congestive heart failure. Brittany demonstrated extraordinary compassion as she continually looked at him and asked him how he was feeling. She always gave the strong impression she genuinely cared.
When she came in the room, she was always incredibly efficient, never missing an opportunity to pick up, rearrange, and clean up the nursing supplies, and demonstrated total command of the numerous IVs. Even on days she was not his assigned nurse, she would come into his room to ask him how he was doing. She made our son feel valued and special.
Our son was experiencing total incontinence and was quite embarrassed as a result. Brittany was continually cleaning him up and always made a concerted effort to bolster his self-esteem and downplay what caring for him was requiring of her.
As parents, we were deeply impressed with Brittany’s work ethic, compassion, and genuine interest in her patient’s well-being. In our view, Brittany exemplifies an outstanding attitude and concern for the patient.
While we had never met her prior to this hospitalization, we are so very proud of her and the service she provides as a nurse.
Thank you, Brittany, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
