I'm a PA in Texas and want to acknowledge what an extraordinary job Brittany did for my grandpa. My grandpa was admitted with acute GI bleed. Unfortunately, my grandma was visiting Texas, and she caught COVID along with both of my parents. She has co-morbidities and while recovering, had a COPD flare necessitating hospitalization in Texas. This left her and my parents unable to travel to Arizona to be with my grandpa. While we navigated what to do, Brittany was essential in helping us make those important decisions. She was always responsive to my phone calls and detailed questioning. She was pleasant and demonstrated true compassion for our situation. Brittany gave us medical updates and updates on how my grandpa was doing emotionally. I felt like she saw him not just as a patient but as a person who was nervous, in distress, and had a family. Brittany was patient with him and made him feel better. It was a blessing to us to have her there as his nurse. My grandpa recounted with great appreciation how she had a cup of coffee waiting for him as soon as he returned from endoscopy - it was exactly what he wanted. That simple gesture made his experience so much better. We are so grateful for her and wanted to acknowledge how she went above and beyond.
