August 2023 Honoree
Brittany Kendlehart, BSN, RN, CCRN
A nursing supervisor doesn't just care for patients and families; she also cares for her staff. Brittany Kendlehart has been my direct supervisor since 2014. During that time, she's seen me through a divorce and a prolonged custody dispute, my father's stroke, and multiple house floods.
Recently, my precious son has been struggling with depression. He needed intensive treatment, but as a single mother, I was panicking - how do I get him comprehensive treatment and maintain my job?
I talked to Brittany and our other supervisor, Mandee, and they both told me, "Take care of your son. We will support you."
Brittany took care of me, which has allowed me to take care of my son. I firmly believe this will preserve his mental health and maybe even his life.
I have worked at Medical City for 17 years. People have asked me, from time to time, why do you stay?
I stay because of people like Brittany - who make our PICU more than a place to work.
I'm so eternally grateful to work with Brittany, who cares about her staff as much as she cares about her patients.
