She was vital to the stabilization of that patient and was graceful and helpful throughout the entire episode.
I am the senior resident who got a very surprising and complicated transfer from the neurosurgery service. I had received only minimal sign out from a third party and right after the transfer order was placed, I received a call regarding the patient having large-volume hematemesis. Having never seen this patient before, I rushed to the bedside. Brittany proceeded to present the patient head-to-toe by system including VP shunt surgery, history, seizure semiology, timeline of events, trend of abnormal vitals, and current social concerns. It was the type of sign out I would expect a senior resident to present and yet she delivered it with poise and intelligence, catching that the patient had been off AEDs for 48 hours. She was vital to the stabilization of that patient and was graceful and helpful throughout the entire episode. I have never so heavily leaned on a nurse for proper sign out. She was incredible and patient with me. I even lost my ID and she spent extra time looking for it with me- which was added compassion on top of a difficult day. Thank you so much for everything! I cannot stress enough how thankful I am!
