Brittany Levesque exemplifies Catholic Medical Center’s values of respect, integrity, compassion, and commitment. She knows that caring for a patient goes well beyond providing medical treatment. Recently, Brittany had a patient who was in both mental and physical decline. This woman’s husband came to visit every day even though, despite their more than 70 years together, she didn’t always recognize him. Sadly, the husband became very ill and within days of being admitted to the same unit as his wife, was put on comfort measures only. Knowing the couple would not see each other again when he was transferred to hospice, Brittany advocated and arranged for their final visit.

Brittany’s nomination letter movingly describes, “For the first time in a long time, the wife knew who he was! They held hands, kissed each other, and shared how immensely they loved each other for the last 70 years. Because of Brittany, this couple was able to spend those last few precious moments together and had a chance to share that beautiful memory before they both passed away. If not for Brittany’s compassion and commitment to her patients, this couple would never have had their final moments together.“ Brittany’s thoughtfulness, love, and true concern for her patients echo the highest values of nursing, making her most worthy of this recognition.
