Brittany embodies compassion, kindness and dedication. She is tireless and wears a smile even at the end of the shift. As a surgery patient, I had a rash on my back which could have been viewed as a minor complaint. She, however, did not ignore it and thought it through. She came back after speaking to the doctor with antihistamine topical cream. She also placed an order for the oral antihistamine medication and got them. She made sure even at the end of the shift that I was made comfortable and taken care of. This incident exemplifies her intellectual curiosity to solve a problem and compassion to get it done.

She explained to me the difference between heparin and other anti-clotting drugs. Before administering any drug she was patient enough to explain the purpose of the drug and why she is giving it to me. This, in my opinion, shows knowledge, integrity and excellence.

While helping me walk around the hallway she was asking about my professional work. I told her that I do research in renewable energy storage systems. She did not leave it at that. She was curious as to what these newer batteries need to do that existing technology does not. In summary, Brittany defines the ideal characteristics of a tireless nurse and the face of City of Hope. She richly deserves the DAISY Award.
