I took my sister who was diagnosed with cervical and uterine cancer to the ER. The ER was extremely busy, and Brittany was the triage nurse on duty at this time. Brittany saw that my sister was in a lot of pain and due to her cancer she placed my sister in a waiting room by herself since her immune system is compromised. The room had a few chairs with 2 recliners. Brittany told my sister she would be more comfortable in this room (oh how true this was).
Brittany, knowing that it would be a while before she would have a bed, got in touch with the doctor in the ER and told him about my sister. This way all things needed for her to be treated would be done when a bed was available. A CT scan was ordered along with an IV and blood work. Brittany took it upon herself to go above and beyond and took care of her while waiting for a bed.
We arrived at the ER at 8:30 pm and did not get a bed until 3:30 am. Once we arrived in the room she had already had her blood work, IV, and CT scan completed. If it was not for Brittany, my sister would have to wait for many more hours for a CT scan and blood work results. My sister was discharged at approximately 6:00 am. Along with Brittany taking care of my sister's needs, I saw her taking care of patients' needs in the waiting room and doing her regular duties as the triage nurse on duty.
What a great nurse you have on your staff; I am so thankful for everything she did for my sister. Again I thank you for having such a caring nurse on your staff. Thank you, Brittany!
