Robert Rose, MS, RN, NEA-BC, Trinity Mother Frances Chief Nursing Officer / Senior Vice President of Patient Care
Nomination one:
My mother has had emergency open-heart surgery. We have been in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for two weeks. All of the nurses have been wonderful, but Brittany has a level of understanding and compassion that cannot be described. She seems to know exactly what my mother wants and needs at all times. I think she is the best representation of a nurse that Trinity Mother Frances has to offer. I know if she was my nurse, I would not mind being in the hospital.
Nomination two:
My sister-in-law had emergency open-heart surgery and was in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for 2 weeks. Every time Brittany worked, she seemed to be reading my sister-in-laws mind. She knew what she needed and wanted at all times. She showed a compassion that I have never witnessed. I thank her from the bottom of my heart!
Nomination three:
My dad was careflighted to Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler and admitted to the Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital - 4 Ornelas Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Melissa Hamlet, James Ross and Brittany Norman were all amazing caregivers. My dad is 87 and underwent Thermagard hypothermia treatment after suffering a heart attack in which he coded for approximately 3-4 minutes. We were all uncertain. Brittany Norman's positive energy and care was inspiring. She held my dad's hand and displayed true professionalism all at the same time. When my dad opened his eyes for the first time, he saw Brittany and followed her around the room with his eyes. Brittany would stop by to check on him even after he left Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Her uplifting spirit gave us all hope in an uncertain time.
After we contacted the patient about Brittany winning the award, we received this very touching email:
“Brittany went above and beyond in patient care. Our family was blessed by her caring nature. Thanks to Brittany and the caring staff of Trinity Mother Frances we were given 30 more days of precious life with our dad.
Thank you, Brittany for sharing your love with us! And God Bless all those who dedicate their lives to serving others at Trinity Mother Frances!
