Brittany was taking care of Mr. 127A. She had just received report when her patient called. She answered the call light and something didn't feel right! He wasn't talking as fast as usual. Brittany took vitals. Prior to Brittany speaking with him, he was seen by his team, lab, and the NA. No one noticed anything except Brittany. She noticed he had very low saturations, so she turned on the oxygen and monitored. Still unable to get him to act like normal, she put him on more oxygen & still low she called the stat nurse. His team and the stat nurse arrived only to continue to try to make the patient stable. Finally, at 15L of oxygen, the patient was around 90%. She continued to take care of her patient until he was in ICU. Brittany said he was intubated not long after arriving in the ICU. He recovered after 2 weeks intubated. The patient would not be here today if Brittany had not noticed something different about him. Brittany is committed to helping vets and advocating for patients. She is also always there for advice and providing excellent knowledge on rules and policies. Her cool, calm, positive demeanor makes her a pleasure to work with.
