Brittany Sabala, RN

Brittany Sabala is an ICU nurse. One of her patients was verbally abusive to our Respiratory Therapist, C, who is African American. C introduced himself to the patient and stated he was going to give him a breathing treatment. Patient pulled away from him and said very discriminatory insults. C left and said "I guess he doesn't want any treatment." Brittany heard what her patient said to C. She educated him stating this is not the way to treat anyone who is trying to help you in this hospital setting or anywhere. C was in awe because the patient apologized for what he said because he listened to Brittany's life lesson. C was happy, the patient got his breathing treatment and was happy, and Brittany was happy because her patient apologized to C. I think Brittany deserves recognition. She brought the best out of this patient for him to turn around and apologize for what he said.
