My Dad was admitted to ICU with a bowel blockage and blood clots. Because he had Parkinson's, he was not a candidate for surgery, so it was only a matter of time. He had asked my boyfriend and I if I would consider getting married in 2 or 3 weeks to ensure he could be there. When he was admitted to ICU, we knew he had a short amount of time. We decided to get married in my Dad's ICU room so he could see our wedding. The decision was made 24 hours before.
When Brittany came on and found out what was happening, she decided to decorate my Dad's room for us. She got balloons, streamers, flowers, and a MRS./MR. sign. They made a backdrop for pictures and even bought us a cake. They also went so far as to make a bow tie to put on my Dad's trach. When I got back to the hospital for the ceremony and saw the room, I cried. It was beautiful and such an act of kindness. We had a beautiful non-traditional wedding and my Dad got to be a part. My Dad passed away 2 days later, but my wedding will always be extra special because of the kindness Brittany showed us.

Note: This is Brittany's 2nd DAISY Award!

Thank you, Brittany, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
