If you are fortunate, in your life you will meet people whose disposition toward life, their work, and humans will change and shape how you live. I can say with utmost confidence that Dr. Sorrel is one of those people for me. I first had her in my research class and from then on, I have admired and looked up to her.
Dr. Sorrel is honest and dedicated. She is driven, intelligent, and inspiring. She will go above and beyond to provide the best learning experience possible. She is knowledgeable and approachable. She is always there when you need her and is more than willing to put in the work to truly be there for her students. Above all else, she will always treat you with kindness, respect, and honesty. NKU is fortunate to have a professor like her and I feel fortunate to have a role model who makes every student feel like they can do and be anything.
Brittany Sorrel has proved herself to be an outstanding and dedicated educator in many ways. One scenario that comes to mind is from the spring semester of 2020 when all of our school switched to online forums. This was/is an extremely stressful time for all of the students and faculty; however, Dr. Sorrel is the professor who got us through that intermediate MedSurg class and really through the rest of that semester. From her weekly emails where she in detail broke down everything that was needed to be done to her organized and well delivered PowerPoints and lectures to her constant Zoom meetings with students to go over the material one extra time, she went above and beyond ensuring we got the best education and the fairest chance for success.
That semester I kept thinking about the amount of work and dedication she must be putting in on daily basis in order to deliver this quality of education. I sincerely hope she gets recognized for her efforts and continues to teach and inspire her students. I feel truly fortunate to have had Brittany Sorrel as my professor. As I get into my career, I hope to exude the compassion, dedication, confidence, drive and empathy she exemplifies!
