Every so often NYU Meyers College of Nursing admits a student who exceeds all the expectations of what it means to be a role model of service and excellence - Brittany Taam is that student. In her four years at NYU, she has gone above and beyond in advocating for her student peers and is well-respected by students, faculty, and staff alike.
In spite of the rigorous academic demands of the nursing program, she found time to organize other nursing students and participate in numerous extracurricular activities. She has played leadership roles in many of our student organizations including the Undergraduate Nursing Student Organization and the Critical Care Nursing Students Organization.
Brittany exemplifies humility, generosity, and altruism among her student peers and at the bedside with her patients. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, she advocated for NYU Meyers students' academic concerns and safety and served as the student representative on the College's COVID-19 Task Force.
Brittany is admired by her patients for her positive disposition and authentic compassion. Brittany personifies NYU's mission and philosophy of belonging and inclusivity. She treats her patients, peers, and faculty with the same level of respect. Serving as an NYU Undergraduate Admissions Ambassador and Welcome Week Captain, she inspired and encouraged new students to fully engage in college life on campus and beyond. While excelling academically, she was an active member of the NYU Dancers/Choreographers Alliance and was a member of the NYU Dance Team. Her grace and dedication to dance complement the care and attention that she provides to her bedside patients.
