During the delivery, she coached my husband on ways he could help with the process, and it was really special to have him by my side, assisting me.
I will never forget the outstanding care Brittany gave to not only myself, but my husband and our baby as well. Brittany was not only "just doing her job" but kept me afloat when I wanted to crumble from the pain. She was a compassionate listener and offered her guidance when she felt it was most needed. I was incredibly nervous and anxious for the epidural, but she held my hands and offered breathing techniques to make it less intense. She never missed a position change once I got the epidural; every single hour on the dot, she was in our room changing positions. She offered many different position options, and rather than forcing me into something that wasn't comfortable for me, she allowed me to make a choice. She supported my decisions.
During the entire labor process, she continued to educate me on the symptoms I was experiencing and that it was all normal signs that labor was progressing in the right way.
Throughout the entire time we had Brittany as our nurse, she always included my husband. Which made me happy. During the delivery, she coached my husband on ways he could help with the process, and it was really special to have him by my side, assisting me. She offered to let my husband cut the umbilical cord; he was hesitant prior to labor, but I really think, because he felt comfortable around her, that is one reason why he did it! The night after delivery, she assured us that if we needed anything, we should put the call light on, and she would be there. She noticed that we needed some time to get some good rest and took our little baby with her to the nursery. This was so refreshing, knowing that our baby was being watched after by an incredible nurse and we could get some well-needed rest - very reassuring for a new mom and dad.
I told my husband, "I truly believe our labor and delivery would not have gone that well if it wasn't for Brittany coaching us along the way and being at the bedside every chance she could." He simply said, "I could not agree more with you."
