Brittney was the primary nurse for a patient who needed urgent attention. Her nomination reads: “Brittney was my husband’s nurse. He had a fever of unknown origin and had a lot of medical tests. One evening, he spiked a fever of 103.1. She filled ice packs to help lower my husband’s fever and placed these under his arms and between his legs. She also filled the plastic basin in his room with ice and cold water. She brought in washcloths so I could start wiping him down. She advocated for him to have an additional medication to bring his fever down. She did all of this without being asked. Because of her care, his fever finally went down. I taught nursing at UVA a long time ago. She compares quite well to the best students I had.”
