This nomination is well overdue. I had my son in December of 2016. It was an uneventful delivery as I had a scheduled C-section that morning. Although everyone I came in contact with was fantastic, it wasn't until that evening that I had the pleasure of having Brittney as my nurse on the mother/newborn side. Right away I could tell she had such a passion for being there, she was invested in my son and me, not only because that was her job but you could genuinely see the compassion in her face. She and I had late night conversations that to her may seem part of the job but to me, have stuck with me over 2 years later.
One night I was having a rough time, just emotionally. She took the time to really make sure I was okay, didn't seemed rushed or bothered that I was being an emotional mess. She was my nurse every night but my last night there. She got pulled to the NICU, but she made time to come say goodbye that next morning before she left. I am currently pursuing my nursing degree, and I can say Brittney is one of my biggest role models. If I can be half the nurse Brittney is, I would be extremely happy.
